Though “2020 vision” is usually associated with normal human visual acuity, i.e., the clarity or sharpness of vision measured at a distance of 20 feet, through our monthly themes, Sunday talks, and all the classes and workshops we’ll be offering this year at The Life Enrichment Center, we’re going to be looking at how we can develop the spiritual acuity that is natural to us as spiritual beings. We’ll be focusing on how we can establish and expand the clarity and sharpness of vision that is spiritually, vibrationally, and energetically available to us, a vision that can’t be measured at any distance. It is only as we improve our individual “I Sight,” our view of “out there” from “in here,” that we can see more of who we’re created to be, more of who we created to be it with, and enjoy doing what feels good to do together more often.

The French Philosopher and Jesuit Priest, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, wrote “You are not a human being in search of a spiritual experience. You are a spiritual being immersed in a human experience. It is our duty to proceed as though the limits of our abilities do not exist.” Any limits as to what we can be, do, have, or experience are self-imposed. Not intentionally, but through habits of old thoughts we believe can’t be changed. Often the only ability we believe we can improve upon is how clearly we can humanly see at a distance of 20 feet, by getting glasses or eating lots carrots! But, it is what we see within us that makes all the difference in what we see around us while we’re immersed in this human experience.

There is a lot going on in this human experience these days that can cause feelings of fear and outrage if we focus on them. And, while we could look at each of them, one-by-one, and try to see each one differently, the only way anything we see in the world will change is through our choosing to change how we see everything. We can choose to make a change in mind from a limited human perspective with few possibilities for change in the world to a more expansive spiritual perspective with unlimited new possibilities for change in world. If we want the world to change before our eyes, we must find a new vision of life by looking within us for a new thought before we look around us to see what we can see. For example, the notion that peace can be achieved through violence is an old way of looking at life that hasn’t brought peace to the world since ancient times. Yet, such behavior continues because old repetitive thoughts continue and limit awareness of possibilities for new ideas to come to mind.

Peace begins on earth through each of us, through our “I Sight.” Our responses to one another, right where we are, wherever we are, and our individual expression of our self in the world, affects the world. Opening our mind to new thoughts about self and life allows us to experience a new way of living. Abraham-Hicks tells us, “Every thought is a vibration, and the Law of Attraction is responding to every thought. Therefore all thought is going to increase. The only question is: Is this thought one you want to increase?” It is an important question to ask our self every moment. With every thought, and before every word and response to any situation, it is important to ask our self: Do I want this thought, this word, or this response to create my life? Do I want more and more of this to come into my life and affect the world around me? Is this “the me” I chose to be in this human experience?

The mystical poet, Rumi, wrote “You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.” The spiritual space within us is Vast, Infinite and Whole. Within the Inner Wholeness we are one life together. The entire immeasurable Universe is ours to experience. Not all at once, but certainly one new thought at a time. But, we can only experience such a relationship between the inner and outer by releasing the old thoughts that have already taken form around us—whether they’ve manifested as sickness in the body, disharmony in our relationships, lack in our finances, or as environmental, ecological, economical, and political challenges in the world—and seeking new thoughts to allow to manifest. We experience the “within, without, when we choose a new way of looking at life and a new perspective from which to live life in this human experience.

The Unlimited Space within us is where all beauty begins. It is where all joy comes to life. It is the boundless place from which all love radiates. It is where all peace is stored. It is that unrestricted, unlimited Source from which all good flows. We’d be downright crazy to look for anything outside of us, or try to control anything or anyone around us, when everything we could ever desire to experience is already available to us within us. When we look on the inside first, all we desire see on the outside shows up!

When the new year began, did you begin to practice a new way of thinking? Are you seeing yourself and life in a new way? Even though the old year numerically left at midnight on December 31st, and the new year arrived with such a lovely balanced set of numbers, unless we changed at midnight, too, and became more spiritually balanced, and more lovely to our self as we look within, the new year will continue to resemble last year, and so will we. Nothing changes for us until we change for our self. We’re going to appear to our self in the same old way we have, year after year, until we begin to see our self differently, and proceed in our life as though the limits of our abilities don’t exist.

We can decide to let this new year bring more into our life than simply the opportunity to write lovely “20s” when we write the date. We can decide to open our mind to the new thoughts available to us in within that Vast, Unlimited Space in us, and “ring in the new.” A happy new year comes from a happy new way of seeing!
