As the song goes, “If you’re happy and you know it then your life will surely show it.” What is your life showing you? It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks about your life, how does your life feel to you? Happy? If your choice as to whether or not to feel joy in your life right now is based on the behavior of someone else, or if it’s based on the tentative steps forward and fearful steps backwards this fluctuating and confusing world is currently taking, it’s likely that much of time your life seems filled with a whole lot of joyless confusion and disillusion.

That is why it is important for us to consult a Higher Authority for the Joy we’re looking for. The Divine Authority within us, the One that rules the Universe all that live in It, never fluctuates. It is always consistent and clear, and guiding us forward moment-to-moment in joy and unopposed goodness. In The Science of Mind we read, “We will do well to listen to this inner voice for it tells us of a life wonderful in its scope, of a love beyond our fondest dreams, and of a freedom which the soul craves.”

It is a beautiful thing that we have All-Knowing Divine Guidance living within us, isn’t it? How comforting to know that there is Holy Wisdom available to us that already knows what we truly want and how to get it. So, why on Earth would we not take time to listen to and follow that Guidance?

Could it be we are too busy making other plans than to concern our self with a Divine Plan that doesn’t appear to have a visible blueprint for us to follow? Could it be we’ve convinced our self that we have too much to do—responsibilities and obligations to fulfill, accomplishments to achieve, money to accumulate, things to get—that we don’t have time to be still enough to let a life more wonderful (and far less tiring) in its scope enter our awareness? Could it be that we tell our self there are too many “real” human conditions and situations we need to focus on and get through before we can mentally, emotionally and physically rest and imagine more?

We read in The Way of Transformation, “No one will ever make this journey for you. No one you see or no one with whom you live will ever make the journey to God for you. So get clear about your priorities and seek first the Kingdom.” We might want to ask our self, “What are my priorities for this Earth life? Did I come to live, and die, without even catching a glimpse of the Truth of the Divine One living my life as me anonymously?”

Have we become so addicted to the busy-ness in our own mind that we’ve come to believe that the more we think about problems, the more we mentally chew on them like a dog on a bone, our tenacious focus gives us reason to live, and that solving the world’s problems, and our problems within it, is the reason we’re on Earth? Taking time to contemplate an inner Life may seem irrelevant, but it is the most relevant thing we can ever do for our self and the world we see because nothing changes unless we do.

As the saying goes “You’ve got to believe it to see it.” We believe what we perceive in the world around us because we perceive around us what we believe within our mind. We read in The Science of Mind, “The problem of evil will continue to be a problem just as long as we believe in it, Good will appear only as we embody it. Each soul has within a sure test, a something which directs and guides it. The problem is solved as we turn from all that hurts, all that is destructive, and all that denies the Good, and turn with our whole being into the light and toward the Truth.” When we, in our human form, are turned toward others in their human form, and then spend most our time comparing human forms and human ideas, and all the rights and wrongs, we put our self into a position of believing that is all there is to see and all there is to perceive about life. We talk about our perceptions, debate about them, argue about them, and conspire with others that agree with them, as if what we believe and perceive is a God-given Absolute Truth.

Because each of us perceives what we individually believe, and the composition of our beliefs is unique to each of us, we don’t see eye-to-eye even when we appear to agree! That’s why the only real unity and true joining is heart-to-heart. The eyes of our heart, the eyes of Love, see beyond the obvious and mundane, and perceive the Divine. There is power in our perceptions of life that perpetuates either separation, judgment, hatred, and conflict or expands unity, love, goodness, and kindness. In The Way of Transformation we read, “We must open to a new quality of awareness, a new way of being that penetrates what we believe we are seeing and reveals to us the perfect harmony of the Kingdom, the presence of the Love of God.”

What we give energy to in our mind we already believe is true. And, because our mental energy is creative, the content of our mind spills out into the world we see and appears to us as the living forms and expressions we experience. What we see around us is like a 3D movie, a 3D projection of the thoughts we give attention to in our mind. But, we can’t take off special glasses to change what we see. We must change what’s in the projector, our thoughts.

Steve Jobs said, “Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice, and most important have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” To become what we truly want to become, and to live as we are created to live, it is essential for us to follow our heart—to live from the inside out, to listen to what our inner voice is saying to us through our intuition and emotions, and then courageously follow that Guidance. Whether we’ve realized it or not, there has always been a Holy Voice that speaks to us in the quietness of our soul. Even when no one else is around, we are never alone. Every inspiration and good idea, every time we’ve felt an impulse to do or not do something, has come from the guidance of the Divine Self within us. Intentionally listening for that Guidance is the most important connection, and vibrational communication, we’ll ever have.

Only Divine Guidance can tell us how to perceive Life as It was created be perceived from the High Vibration of Love where the view is crystal clear. Only Love can penetrate what we believe we are seeing and reveal to us the perfect harmony of the Universe and the Presence of the Love of God that created It. Only Love can give the consistent joy, peace, health, and well being that make our life worth living, no matter what anyone else is saying or doing, even if it seems that their saying and doing is personal to us.

In order for us to know if we have the courage to follow our heart and intuition, we must first become aware of what our heart knows and our intuition is telling us. That’s why allowing our mind to unwind is essential, and relaxing into the present moments of our life, unhurried and unworried, is so valuable. Are you allowing time each day to simply slow down the pace of your summer to-do list and simply chill? Are you taking time to consciously breathe slowly and easily, not only when you feel calm, but when you feel hurried and worried?

Since breathing is the most important thing we do every moment, if we want to continue to occupy our human form, it’s a really good idea for us to breathe in a way that will benefit us physically, mentally and emotionally. In this way we are more able to connect with what we’re feeling as we’re feeling it. We notice whether or not we’re feeling a sense of well-being. We notice if our muscles are relaxed or tense, if our stomach is calm or jumpy, if our heart is steady or racing. How we feel is an indicator of the direction our thoughts in the moment are taking us. If it’s not somewhere we want to end up, we’re not going to feel good along the way!

We attract to us what we give our attention to because what we’re focused on in our mind calls our attention to it. We perceive what we already believe is there whether we like what we see or not. If the thoughts we’re focusing on, if the behaviors we’re giving our attention to, if the conversations we’re participating in, or if what we’re watching on the news is causing us to feel bad, nothing good is going to come from that. How we’re feeling lets us know moment-to-moment whether we are opening a door to something we want to experience, or we are opening a door to something we don’t want to experience.

When we feel good we can trust that we are moving in perfect synchronicity with our soul. And, as we stay focused on feeling good, our perception of life begins to change. The most important relationship we’ll ever have is with our Soul, Spirit, Inner Being, or Intuition. It guides us with good feelings, or not-so-good feelings, to let us know if we are headed where we want to go or not. Just because we’re feeling a little disturbed doesn’t mean there is something wrong with us. It just means our Inner Being is letting us know that we’re not thinking the thoughts that will take us in a direction we want to go.

So often we look for someone to ask what we should do, or what’s right for us, when all along the One who knows is right there with the answer. Only the Divine Wisdom living in us, and sourcing us with life, knows what we truly want to become because It is the very Source of our wanting to become it. Our inner being, our spiritual being, energetic being is the cause of our being in physical form in this physical world in the first place. We are the outer physical expression of a Non-Physical Divine Self. It’s time for us to own our Divinity because what we believe about our self we perceive in others.

Eckhart Tolle wrote, “When you meet another human being, you meet the physical self. Then you meet the psychological self that is behind it, which is their mental conditioning, their patterns of behavior and so on. And then there is a beautiful deeper level to every human being that transcends all of that. I can only sense that in another human being and relate to another human being on that deeper level if I have gone deep enough within myself.” If we remain on the surface of life, judging life’s possibilities for us and others by appearances, then that will be the depth of our perception.

If we want to go deep enough to transcend our judgements, we must be willing to go beyond what we’ve come to believe is true. We must quiet our mind in order to open to a new quality of awareness, and a new way of being that penetrates what we believe we are seeing and reveals to us the perfect harmony of Life and the presence of Love of God. It is only in the vastness of the Silence within us that we are able to hear the Voice of Love telling us of the wonder and beauty of Life. And, only then are we able to perceive that Life around us.
